Description
Late afternoon, after a wonderful lunch, I was walking back along the Via Appia when I took this photo of the guard "on duty". I actually think he was dozing. He is sitting on the steps leading into the Tomb of Caecilia Metella ( Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella), a mausoleum located just outside Rome, Italy on Via Appia. The tomb was built during the 1st century B.C to honor Caecilia Metella who was the daughter of Quintus Caecilius Metellus Creticus, a Consul in 69 B.C,
A print of this photo is a nice compliment to any room in your home or it would make a lovely addition to your office or beach house. You can also choose from other items (totes, phone case, etc.) to give as a unique gift for someone special or just treat yourself!
My photos are of images I find pleasing whether it be “Fred”, a baby cardinal, a lovely high country plain in autumn, or the dark damp cisterns below Istanbul. Please browse through my collections for a print that speaks to you. Collections are arranged by location and/or subject matter.
Watermark will not appear on your purchased artwork.
